TEMPLE Craft....UPDATE!!

Hellooo Again!

I finally have an update for all of ya!! I have GOOD news and BAD news.....hmmmmm....which should I tell you FIRST?? OK - the good news is that we have a date SET and we are FOR SURE doing it!! The bad news?? I can't get them to reduce the price AND they have to add tax onto the price as well!

Seriously, I tried to "work" my mo-jo...and it just wasn't happening! Here are some quotes from the email Poppyseed's Rep sent me:

*Tax: We have to charge tax because we are selling a product.

*Instead of you getting the free picture and discounting everyone’s pictures: We are unable to do this because of the accounting and tax issues it creates.

I know, I know! I am SO sorry! I even talked to her on the phone to try to get her to SEE our way of thinking....her boss just wasn't willing to budge. If you aren’t able to do it at this price, I totally understand! If you are STIIIILLLLL in….

Here are the DeTaIlS:

Date: Wednesday, December 30th
Place: Primary Room @ Church
Time: 6:00 P.M.
Price: $48.92 ($46 + tax)
Due Date to Pay: December 12th
Email: flygirl165@juno.com

Please shoot me an email letting me know you are IN (AND which temple you want out of Salt Lake Temple, Bountiful, Timpanogas, Logan, Idaho Falls, St. George, & Manti) and I will email you back my address! Please mail your checks ASAP!! I have to HAVE all the checks by December 12th because SHE (Poppyseed’s Rep) needs the money by the 16th! Also – if you have never been to “our” church…I can email you directions as well.

After I complained to her about the price….AGAIN….she brought up a good point. If I were to purchase this at Deseret Book, etc….then I would be paying around $100 or more! Plus, how fun it will be to get together with girlfriends to make such a beautiful craft!

OH – and I REALLY liked this gal! We chatted over the phone and I am SURE she would be BFF’s with all of us! :) Tee, hee….

Click HERE to get to the last post about this craft. It states the dimensions and how long it will take, etc.

OK – questions that you girlies wanted me to ask her:

Q: Can they put a “saying” on the picture for you?
A: They are not able to do it at this time, but they may make this available in the near future. HINT: If you really want a “saying” – you could use vinyl!

Q: Can I paint the frame another color?
A: Of course! They will only provide black paint, so if you want your frame another color – you will need to bring the paint.

Q: Can we order the temple picture in a “landscape” format? (Ya know, how in Microsoft Word…you can print your document either Portrait or Landscape?!?)
A: The pictures they have on their site are the ones they have available through the photographer. You can order a different picture or angle directly through the photographer, but it is an additional $32 for the print.

Q: The frame looks like it has been sanded and stained – are we going to do that to ours?
A: Not during the class, but you can do it afterwards. They have found that the paint needs MORE time to dry before sanding and staining – otherwise the paint pulls off in strips. Once it has completely dried, you can stain, glaze, or lacker your frame BUT – you should completely cover the picture so it doesn’t get damaged.

K – I think that is everything! I am SUPER excited to do this! Becky (the Poppyseed Rep) got me SO freakin’ excited!! She LOVES hers….and I can’t wait to get one in MY home! I am excited to see everyone, too!! SO – email me ASAP….and don’t forget to tell me which temple you want!!

"BONUS" Craft Night...

Helllllllloooooo Ladies!!
I have an idea for a craft night RIGHT after Christmas (when Jamie & I will be in town)...
K....who's in???? I want to make this DAH-LING Temple Pic above...and I need to gather nine other girlies to do it with me!! Some of my girlfriends outside of crafting have already told me that they want in....but we need more girls! This company called Poppyseed Projects will teach US how to make it and they will bring all the materials as well! The cost per gal will be $46.

We will be in Utah around Christmas time...and I am planning on setting this all up AFTER Christmas. (Breathe a sigh of relief....it won't interfere with your hectic Christmas preparations...tee,hee...)

Here's some MORE info:

If you don't want to do the Salt Lake Temple...they also have the Bountiful, Timpanogas, Logan, Idaho Falls, St. George, & Manti Temples. The temple pic is 18" x 24" protected by a glassless finish and surrounded by a 4 1/2" chunky black frame. The total size is 26" x 32" - HUGE!!

The instructor will bring all of the supplies and will stay to teach the class. It should take 2-2.5 hours to finish. OH...and we will need someone to volunteer their house....since Jamie & I no longer have one there! :)

K....let me know if you want to make one and I will set everything up! They are pretty full for the Fall....so I would love to arrange everything for 'de winter months....probably in the days following Christmas.....before January hits! Jamie & I still need to figure out our entire Christmas "Vaca."

**EDITED TO SAY: I just found out that whoever sets it up....gets a free picture...BUT I was thinking that instead of MINE being free....we could take that $46 and make everyone's cheaper!! AND - if we can get even MORE than 10 girls together....I will see if they will take off even MORE money!! Never hurts to ask, huh!!

P.S. If you are "IN" - then let me know in the comments below. After I find out our schedule & more details from Poppyseed....I will get back with all of you!

Myrleen's YUMMY Cream Cheese Clouds...

We are SOOO lucky to have Myrleen in our group! She sure takes care of us when it's her turn for treats! I seriously got excited when I looked at our sidebar to see who was bringing the treat!! (Remember her delicious goodies at our VERY first get-together!?!) Well, she is such a doll that she is sharing the recipe with all of us! We weren't able to snap a picture of the final product...since it was such a hit...but here is how to make it! Leave a comment for Myrleen if you try this! AND - email me a pic as well..then I can add it to this post! I am definitely going to make it this weekend!!
** EDITED TO SAY: Tara tried this and snapped the photo below...and YES...she knows the stars are supposed to be in the top left-hand corner! Oops!! This was YUMMY!!

Cream Cheese Clouds
1 pkg. 8 Cream Cheese
1/2 cup Whipping Cream (the liquid kind you have to whip)
1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
1 t. Vanilla
Fresh Cut Fruit
Canned Whipped Cream or Cool Whip

Set the cream cheese out until it is room temperature. Blend first four ingredients together with blender. Put in cupcake molds (Michaels has stars, hearts, and others that you can buy for $9.99) and freeze for two to three hours. Serve frozen, topped with fruit and whipped cream (I like strawberries and blueberries for the 4th of july, but in September fresh peaches really hit the spot. Kiwi is yummy in the spring-St Patrick's Day, along with different types of melon balls, and raspberries work well too). For Valentine's Day, you can cut up strawberries, swirl canned whipped cream on top, then shave chocolate on top of everything, very romantic and hits the spot! And of course, you can put food coloring in with the cream cheese! If you come up with something, please share! I'd love to hear your ideas.

Happy 4th of July!!

Myrleen

**INFO** About April's Craft...

I have *kinda* bad news. Due to circumstances beyond my control....I am unable to attend Craft Night this week. This poses a problem....since I am in charge! We will need to bump it to next Thursday. Please plan on Thursday, May 7th @ 6:30 P.M. I will have to see if the church will be available...if not, it will be at my house - but we will be doing it for sure on that date! I am SUPER sorry.

I have all sort of due dates & deadlines associated with my work as well as TWO weddings and a baby shower.....that will be fitting into the remainder of this week....and I finally realized that I can't be in more than one place at the same time. Yep, it has taken me this long to figure that out! Tee, hee.

Anyway - I know I will be home this Saturday for at least a few hours. If all of you could pretty please with a cherry on top....pick up your SPRING blocks between 12-2 on Saturday, May 2nd....I would love ya even more than I already do! I am just going to be in and out a TON the rest of this week and I would feel better if I knew you all had them in time. In case you forgot WHY you need them early....you will need to stain them at least TWO days prior to us all getting together!! Just use the regular stain that we always use....and they will look great! The earlier you stain them, the better!

The Craft for APRIL!!

The "SPRING" blocks are done!! Wahoo!!

The final price comes to $36.68.
After purchasing the blocks, paper, rhinestones, ribbon, flowers, modpodge, and spray paint.....AND changing the embellishments again & again...to get the cost lower....this is what I came up with! Sigh!! I hope you all like them! {WINK!}

The pink & green are a LOT brighter in person....some of the pink is HOT pink and the green is a soft lime green. The button on the "R" is not included...that button alone is around $1.50. (If you want to get one for your blocks - I bought it at JoAnn Fabric.) Also - the flowers will vary...but don't fret...they are all still cute!

The due date for all the "GREENS" to be turned in will be April 9th - which is next Thursday. I will be placing the order for the wood the following day....fer sure! We can't afford to delay on the wood....or they won't have it cut out in time! You can put the money in the top part of our Winder Farms cooler if I am not home.

Supplies for the March Craft...

We will be meeting at the church next Thursday, March 26th at 7:00PM and I am sure we will be able to finish up by 9:00PM.

Assignments:
Beth - Treats
Jody & Allison - Set Up
Cassi & Natalie - Clean Up

Jody & Allison...I would love it if you can be there at 6:30 to help me set everything up. A HUGE thanks to the girls who helped set up and clean up last week....who weren't even signed up to do it! You ROCK!!

Materials:
- Sandpaper
- Paint brushes (the cheap-o "sponge" ones work great)
- Plastic lid or paper plate to put your paint on
-Electric Sander
- Scrapbooking Cutting Board
-Scissors (sharp ones that can cut ribbon)
-Pencil
-Scrapbooking Adhesive
-Stain & a rag to wipe it off
-Wet wipes - optional (I think wipes are GREAT when wiping off the sawdust after you use your electric sander.)
-The picture you want to display - optional

Reminders/More Info:
#1) If you are not coming on a night you signed up to help out...it's up to you to find a replacement & then email the instructor to let them know who will be taking your place. I know we don't always know our schedule ahead of time which is why some of us might be signed up on a night that we either can't come OR didn't want/need to do the craft, etc. The instructors are SO busy getting everything prepared...that it really helps them out when you can make sure those assignments are taken care of. Thank you for being so responsible and making sure your assignments are covered!

#2) I will be bringing the NEW schedule for the 2009-2010 year to our April get-together...be ready to sign up to TEACH as well as help out in the other areas!! :) We will be having a different instructor every month next year...so be thinking of what you would like to teach the rest of us. If you don't have any ideas...I can certainly help you out in that area as well as give you tips on where to get things. If you aren't comfortable being in charge of a craft all by yourself, then feel free to "team up" with another gal. I will do one of the crafts....so we will need 11 other girlies willing to take a month. SO...be thinking of the MONTH that you would like to do it as well as what craft you will be doing.

#3) I have only bought enough paint for the gals who paid for Option #1 & #3. If you told me you were bringing your own paint, pretty please do not use the paint that I bring...or we will not have enough for the gals who actually paid for it. Thanks a bunch!

OK.....see ya all NEXT Thursday!

Heads-Up: Wood Connection is super behind in their orders...which means I MIGHT not have the craft for April on display....cross your fingers that they can get it cut out for me in time...so ya'll can see it in person!! :)

MORE "Luck" Blocks...

Some of the girlies in our group decided to put a little "spin" on last month's craft. They emailed me the final results...which I thought I should showcase here! Don't we have creative friends!

Brandee's Blocks

Cute, huh! I can't wait to take pictures and post all of the "spins" you gals do next week with the Scrapbooked Picture Frame!

Craft For 'De Month of March!!

Presenting....the Scrapbooked Picture Frame!!
I will be teaching this for the month of March. Now - since I KNOW everyone has different color schemes in their homes....I have come up with a few "Ordering Options." I obviously made this craft to fit the color scheme of one of the rooms in MY house (dark red, black, and white)...and if it matches a room in yours....choose "Option #1." If not....browse thru the other ones and email me when you have chosen what works the best for you.

The ORDERING DUE DATE is:
March 6th - Friday
There are deadlines for ordering the wood AND the papers/embellishments, etc. may run out....so I can't accept orders after this date. Thank you for understanding and PLEASE email ASAP if you are interested.

OPTION #1: If you would like to do the entire project – AS IS – the total price is $23.00.
- - - - - -
OPTION #2: If you would just like me to order the frame for you and YOU would like to get your own embellishments, paint & paper – that will be $12.00.
- - - - - -
OPTION #3: If you would like me to order the frame AND get the paint and YOU would like to get your own embellishments and paper – that will be $13.50. The paint choices will be black, dark brown, white, and ivory.
- - - - - -
OPTION #4: If you would like me to order the frame, AND get the paint & embellishments – including ribbon and YOU would like to get your own paper – that will be $18.00.
- - - - - -
Addition “A”: If you would like to add a small vinyl saying to put on the frame - that will be an additional $2.00. You can choose from: Laughter, Memories, Love, Family, OR another short one-word saying (Just let me know what you would like it to be). You will also need to tell me what color you would like it to be – out of black, white, dark brown, ivory, white, and tan.

Addition “B”: If you would like a flower and a button for your embellishment (instead of the hearts) that will be an additional $1.50. The color choices are red, ivory, & black – for the flowers AND red, white, & black – for the buttons. (The $1.50 is just one button and one flower.)

(The frame is about 15 ''x15'' and the inside of the frame is about 9'' x 9'')

Our last Craft Night was another SUCCESS! Please make sure you thank Melissa....if you haven't already. The poor girly was sick and still pulled it all off! It's a LOT of work to coordinate a Craft Night....and she did a great job! Check back soon for pics AND some "spins" a few gals put on the craft...that night!

Some Pics From The February Craft Night....

Look at our CUTE crafters! I wasn't even able to get a shot of everyone....a few of the gals were in another room....spraying & glittering their letters. We were just hangin' in the Primary Room! Thus the loads of chairs stacked all around us! :)

Don't forget to SIGN up for the next craft by MARCH 6th!!
THANKS!!
